  Vern Ready is my family’s hero. My ex-wife called me on the phone at work. As she had a restraining order in place and I answered I soon found myself under arrest. This was very bad in more than one way. First I have position that requires I maintain a security clearance, second I am a single father, this could cost me my job and all that comes with employment, house, car, food, etc. Lucky for us I found Vernon Ready. This was my second arrest for a domestic violence/non-violent (DV) issue. In Colorado if you break a restraining order under DV it falls under that statue. Vernon immediately went to work. He looked up the regulations and verified, yes, my job was at risk. He met with the District Attorney and let him know this was more than just a phone call. It was my life. The D.A. agreed and when we went to court I received a “Disorderly Conduct Charge” along with, and this is amazing, a DEFERRED SENTENCE. Ask any lawyer how hard it is to get a deferred sentence on a second offense. Thanks to his efforts I get to keep my job, do a little community service and the arrest goes away. I get to keep my job! You would think this would be enough, but Vernon also helped me with my divorce case. I was paying my ex-wife child support, the children had moved in with me and she demanded I continue to pay. In addition the court had granted no end date to my alimony to her and it would never end unless she married. Vernon took this additional case and the results were, I no longer pay child support, my ex must pay me child support and in addition must pay retro-active since the day we filed with the court. My big bonus is that I now have an Ending Date to my alimony payments. I see a bright light at the end of a very dark tunnel. My kids and I came through a very difficult situation and came out whole. I know that without his skill as an attorney my family would be in a very bad place. He saved me and my children. I urge anyone who needs legal advice to contact him soon. He is a rare breed, an attorney who really cares about his clients.
